IMPORTANT: We Apologize, we are currently in the process of upgrading the entire site with a new web 'skin', in the meantime please don't be to upset about us using an old site copy, broken links and also that the Log Cabin Database if Off-Line!

Our Service Provider managed to delete the updated web copy and, hence, this is an excellent excuse for a new web skin.

We will soon have our new site up, so please keep on visiting!

The traditional Swedish Log Cabin source place, We are non-commercial and try to sell nothing to you!

Dedicated to the True Log Cabin ethos! You'll find all your Questions answered herein!

Log Cabins has been made in Sweden for the last 1000 years, indeed, there are remnants of log cabins as far back as we can see. As Scandinavian countries are very sparsely populated and also experience very cold winters our timber is very very slow growing which, in turn, result in very hard durable timber.

Swedish Log Cabins were traditionally made by hand rounding logs that had been left in specially made Log Piles. These piles were designed to remove any sap that fresh logs contained, after this they dried peacefully in the warm Swedish summer until deemed ready to use. I hope that I will have time to research more into the traditional method’s as this is a fascinating subject by itself, I have also found a few Swedish places in the US, I hope that I might get access to their research data in the near future. This site will continue to grow with more information and more images!

Inside this site you’ll find further information on:-
What we use timber Bark for.

Log Cabin - Old Swedish One

LOG CABINS – TIMBER CABINS – INTERLOCKING BUILDINGS

Log Cabins, Timber frames, Swedish Cabins, Wood Sheds

There are hardly any hand made Timber Log Cabins or Homes around anymore, the old traditional art and craft is slowly disappearing. Today all log houses and cabins are made by first machining the timber and then, sometimes, hand finished.

Log Cabins Houses and children’s play huts are sill being made today but their historic interest is so much more fascinating. These cabins are, not only, environmentally friendly but also still retain that rustic look and feel. They are also more thermally efficient (if properly engineered) than any other construction system around.

If you’re lucky you might find yourself in a Log Homes and feel that fantastic wood smell and touch! If you’re not in one now you should stop and consider if one might be suitable for your intended use.

These interlocking buildings as they are sometimes called can be made using a simple cad system and them manufactured to your specifications. This opens the way to a fantastic opportunity to build a place of you own with a material that will last your lifetime, or so you thought. It’s important that your choice of supplier and method of construction is done with care and research so you don’t get your own disaster instead of your dream.

Soon you will also be able to use this menu bar to easily navigate the many sections that we have planned for this site:
